Atlanta, Georgia — The Southern Alliance for Clean Energy (SACE) Action Fund, which works to make clean energy solutions a top priority for our region’s elected leaders, today announced its endorsement of Chandra Farley for Georgia Public Service Commission, District 3.
If elected to the five-member Georgia Public Commission, Farley pledges to hold Georgia utilities accountable while reining in price hikes and pushing to accelerate the transition to renewable and affordable energy.
Farley says, “I understand that Public Service Commission decisions have consequences for our households, our incomes, and our future. I am running for Public Service Commission because ALL Georgians need a voice in these decisions and I have a long track record of advocating for the people’s voice.”
The SACE Action Fund’s endorsement is based on Farley’s proven track record and leadership in addressing climate change and advocating for clean energy and pro-climate policies in Georgia. Farley is the former Chair of the Georgia NAACP Environmental and Climate Justice Committee and former Co-Chair of the Hive Fund for Climate and Gender Justice Advisory Board. A graduate of the EPA’s Environmental Justice Academy, she has also served as Energy Justice Director at the Partnership for Southern Equity.
The Georgia Public Service Commission’s five commissioners serve staggered six-year terms, and each commissioner is elected statewide but must reside in the district they represent. The Public Service Commission District 3 primary elections will be held on May 24, 2022, with early voting already underway since May 2, followed by the statewide election in November.
The Southern Alliance for Clean Energy Action Fund wishes Chandra Farley well in her campaign and thanks her for consistent leadership on behalf of advancing clean energy and climate justice for the citizens of Georgia.
